It seems so long ago Beyond the life that I now know Before the years would have their way and break my heart Do you feel the same For what once remained? Yesterday is gone we can't go back again Do you ever cry For the ghost of days gone by?

I went back to where it began
The house in the woods with a circle of stone. My own personal cocoon hidden away from the world from which I emerged. You were my stepping stone to help me rejoin life but you wouldn't stay. Once again in the circle with my thoughts of the past. No remorse or regrets. You are forgiven. And now so am I.

Tired but Wiser For the Time (10-10-10)
The time leading up to this date was much sadder than I expected. I've been through my closure and got the answers I was looking for even if I had to do that on my own. Now the proposed date has come and I hope I can stop thinking about all this crap. I'm much better off without having a false person around.
(I'm just going to ramble so feel free to move on. This post is more for me than you dear reader.)
Looking back I can see the red flags that paved the way to get to this point. I can also see where I comprised once again. I know relationships have compromise to work but there are some important areas to which this doesn't apply. Compromise in these areas will lead to the relationship falling apart. Doesn't matter how much love you have in your heart.
(blah blah blah)
As funny as it sounds, this was the best relationship I've had. I really enjoyed being together and the things that we did. I am happy with the way I conducted myself. I put up with quite a bit including OCD issues, sense of entitlement, and lack of forgiveness. She'd be happy to tell you I'd be paying for Valentine's day every year after our first one. I thought she was doing something nice for us but found out she thought I should have offered to pay part of it. Not that this was mentioned until much later. It's crazy to think she held onto this after all I did for her and paid for throughout our time together.
It would have been nice to get a heads up that she wasn't as happy. But I've come to understand that women swing from tree to tree. (does this prove evolution?) She wasn't going to leave this one until the next one was lined up. If she shook the tree by telling the truth, she might have fallen out of it. Of course I'm not the only one left out, she hasn't told her family or most of her 'friends' either. I wonder when she'll tell them she's shacked up with grandpa?
So after all this I'm not even left with a friendship which is quite disappointing. That was the final disrespect paid to me. I am mature enough to handle going our separate ways and I could enjoy her finding happiness. My wishes for her now are less than gallant.
(are you done yet?)
Yes, I am dating again and I remember what fun I had being single. Meeting new people, seeing if there's any interest and then seeing how things progress. Putting down the red flags as they show up and deciding if it's worth continuing. I used to think this was too much trouble but I kind of enjoy it. There's always hope of finding some good. Meanwhile the rest of my social life has really picked up which has been fun and interesting. I'll be probably be documenting it here.
(Finally! Now let's see what tomorrow brings. Right, now who's up for marching up the down the square?*)

Amen To That
WARNING: This content is not safe for work. It's not safe for those with no sense of humor. It's not safe for gold diggers either. Mom probably won't like it much but that's why I wrote this warning. Please move on to another posting, blog or porn site if you don't want to be offended. Nuf said!
At the risk of showing some bitterness, I am posting this video the Greek Geek sent to me. It is hilarious and a catchy tune. You know who this is dedicated to but just sit back and have a laugh. Don't be surprised to find yourself humming it afterwards.

Bittersweet
I prefer my chocolate bittersweet, not my love life. Nonreimbused plug -> Lindt
There are many sites out there devoted to bitter relationship endings. I'm not going to link to any here, you can find them yourselves. Most are fake but a few are real and their intent is to somehow get back at the other person by embarrassing them with private information. Probably not the best decision. But when you are hurt, somehow it seems alright.
I thought I'd take a different approach....
Know Yourself
When starting or continuing a relationship, the best advice I can give is to know who you are. Introvert, extrovert, geek, nature lover, adrenaline junkie, bookworm etc. What makes you tick? Learn to accept and love who you are and not worry about other's perceptions. This leads into the next part...
Know What You Want
This refers to what you want in life as well as a partner. It wouldn't be wise to choose someone who wants kids if you are unsure. Don't drive a Ford if you are a Volvo person. What to consider are major points or show stoppers, not something as silly as how someone brushes their teeth.
Make The Choice
No fence sitting allowed. Figure out whether to put your heart into making your relationship work or decide to end it. Things don't get better by doing nothing. This leads into...
End One Before Starting Another
It doesn't matter how you justify it, starting with a new person before you've properly ended your current relationship is ALWAYS bad form. It leads to resentment, hurt and stress far beyond what is necessary. Be an adult and act like one.
The Truth Can Hurt, Lies Hurt More
Many people consider that lying is easier on the other person. It somehow will lessen the blow. In certain cases that may be the correct course but what happens if they find out? How much more hurt will they feel to know someone they loved and trusted added insult to the injury? It's a matter of respect for yourself and the other person. The truth is the best option.
It all boils down to this - treat others as you would like them to treat you. This ethic is more ancient than I am.

New Beginnings
You have stumbled upon my Lair and you are welcome to have a look around. I make no apologies for the mess it's in right now - this was not my doing. It seems my potential mate found someone else and decided to create a bit of havoc for me. It's another time around for them so doubt it will work out but she no longer has a place in this Lair.
A very BIG thank you to my friends and family for their love and support. (I bet you didn't know beastly creatures could actually have friends.) You all rock and you know who you are.
Enough with the blubbering! Time to move on better things. This Jabberwock has yet to be slain.
